Vice President World Cocoa Producers Organization (WCPO) Sayina Riman congratulates Edmond Konan

The President of Cocoa Association of Nigeria and Vice President World Cocoa Producers Organization (WCPO) Sayina Riman congratulates Edmond Konan on the award of price of sustainability champion in Cocoa for his 15 years of work for the sustainability of the Cocoa sector by International Cocoa Festival of Duékoué for its first edition, bringing over 2000 farmer participants.

This award to recognize 15 years of hard work to take cocoa certification to mainstream starting for the first certification and the first sale in 2004 in Ivory Coast through the resolution of the challenging issue of mainstreaming it, bringing farmers who are outside of the system, who could not experiment certification because they are not a member of a coop.

Designing an IMS that brings those who were left behind was one of the most genius innovation Konan has brought to the entire Cocoa value chain.

1 million ton certified in Ivory Coast is creating over 2500 new jobs and bringing over 200 million dollars premium supposedly going to farmers’ pockets.

With the global business, we take a big step to support the work of WCPO by co-sharing the intellectual property rights of the IMS and the diversification package tools.

Doing so we expect to sustain the only organization which knows best the issues of the farmers on the ground.
